SeeTickets.com – you suck - work in progress

Disclaimer - these words are my own thoughts - they do not convey the message from either of the companies I own or part own nor do they convey the message of anyone I deal with in any business matters. This is my personal blog. Another year, another rush for tickets .Another year of getting hyped up for the main event of the year. The doom and gloom of winter and October brings the positively amazing ability to pay your £50 deposit (or pay outright) for you glasto ticket for the following year. What should be a smooth and faultless process (given it is 2010) has always been a complete sham – for as long as the responsibility of graceful execution of this process has lain at the foot of SeeTickets.com at least. Hosting an ember-cli app inside a ServiceStack (or any) MVC app

The resulting code for this post can be found at: https://github.com/wayne-o/bower-link-test We are looking into refactoring sonatribe to be an ember-cli SPA. Using the Discourse code base as inspiration I've been spiking various parts to see exactly how feasible this would be. This all started with us wanting to mimic the discourse header (ignoring the messy sub header): As you can see the header is a really nice, dock-able UI and has a lot of features. My initial thoughts after looking at the code to isolate the header were that this would be near on impossible. We wanted to do this because we want the transition from sonatribe to our discourse installation to be seamless - it's important that it feels like one app. Ignoring the obvious integration points outside of UI (things like updating sonatribe or discourse when the user receives a PM - this will come later hopefully in the form of plugins). V1.1 update +future projects!

Now that Festival Star V1.0 is winging its way through the AppStore i thought I'd update you guys with the progress of V1.1. As mentioned previously, V1.0 was an early release to get the app out into the wild so we can start getting feedback. It only has glasto data in at the moment but we've started adding support for other festivals. The app will update itself once we publish this new data and you'll start seeing other festivals on the home screen. In future versions you'll be able to select which events are loaded into your app and remove unneeded events if you wish. New features in V1.1 will include: My Maps - as promised, you'll be able to tag locations on the maps and pin a pic to the tag so you'll be able to find your car, tent whatever no matter how drunk you get!
